Assessment task 3 - Critical Evaluation – GROUP ACTIVITY
Task Description
This is a collaborative group task. You will work in groups of 3 or 4 and each member is to produce at least one (1) evaluation of a web-based learning resource. As a group you then need to explain how the four (4) resources may be used in a classroom and what extra resources or demands using such web-based resources may have on your classroom teaching practice and upon student learning.
There are a multitude of web-based learning resources available to teachers to use in their classroom practice. This task provides you with an opportunity to search for, and then evaluate, some of those resources.
Your task is to find four (4) web-based learning resources (from sites such as Scootle) and to evaluate them for classroom use.
In order to do this you must:
describethe classroom context for which you are considering the resources. For instance, you must describe the age/year group; the familiarity (or otherwise) of the students with ICT learning resources; the students' access to computers both in the classroom and at home; the curriculum areas you are requiring learning resources for.
describethe features of each resource.
Identifycriteria for your evaluation (for instance, you might examine the resource's capacity to enhance student learning on a particular topic/theme; usability; accuracy of information; appropriateness for a particular age group).
discusshow and why each resource you have chosen is appropriate for classroom use. Would you recommend the learning resource to others? Why/why not?
